Seabury University
Near this site on June 3, 1858, in rented rooms on the second floor of a frame building, The Reverend James Lloyd Breck opened with 15 pupils a mission school which he visioned as the start of Seabury University. Although the university did not materialize, from this beginning developed Seabury Divinity School, Shattuck School, Saint Mary’s Hall, and St. James School.
This marker, dedicated on June 6, 1958, was erected by The City of Faribault in honor of The Centennial of Shattuck School with the approval of the Minnesota and Rice County Historical Societies
