Inscription.
This stone was used as a step for the Baptist Church built in 1831 on the lot across Route 6 from this museum. The church building was sold to the town in 1899 which used the building until 1932 as a gymnasium, primarily as a basketball court.

In 1932 the building was torn down and the stone sat unused until 1959 when it was used as a base for the town's new WWII memorial.

When the monument was relocated in 1992, the stone once again sat unused until being moved to the museum in 2021.
