1. Sulphur Dell Marker
Inscription. Established near downtown Nashville as home to local teams. Athletic Park was given the name Sulphur Dell by sports writer Grantland Rice in 1908. The ballpark became an important landmark to baseball fans across Middle Tennessee. It was the home of the Nashville Elite Giants, an independent African American team which later went on to join the Southern Negro League in 1932. The final game was played by the Nashville Vols on September 7, 1963. The stadium was torn down in 1969.
