Johan Godefridus Schippers
Amsterdam, 13 februari 1923 - Amsterdam, 8 maart 1945

(English translation:)

Johan (Hans) Schippers had only just obtained his HBS diploma at the Montessori Lyceum Amsterdam, when he joined the resistance in 1940. He carried out espionage activities, transported fleeing Jewish compatriots across the border and arranged ration cards and false identity cards for people in hiding. He had some of them go into hiding temporarily at the home of his parents on Van Breestraat. From 1943, Schippers took care of the paper stocks for the illegal publication Parool. He was the contact person between various printers, became head of distribution in Amsterdam and coordinated illegal groups outside the city in the printing of local Parool bulletins. During a raid he was arrested at his hiding place on the Weteringschans. A week later he was executed at Rozenoord on the Amsteldijk. Johan Schippers is buried at the Bloemendaal Memorial Cemetery.
