1. School Marker
Inscription. Vacant homes or buildings served as elementary classrooms during the colony's early years, while secondary students were bused to neighboring school districts. Dyess School, accommodating high school and elementary students, was completed by the fall 1937 term. This original structure burned in September 1964.

2. School Marker
The school has been abandoned for years. The arch (which survived the 1964 fire) has been there since the 1940s. Johnny Cash was a member of the Class of 1950.
