1. Brooks Field Hangar 9 Marker
Inscription. On 5 February 1940 flying cadets of class 40-A became the first to receive flight training here since 1931, when Randolph Field opened. Class 40-A was the first ever to receive advanced flight training here, thereby initiating this mission for Brooks Field for World War II. Presented by members of the Flying School Class 40-A Association, 23 March 1980, during their 40th Anniversary Reunion, San Antonio Texas.
