1. CSUN Flagpole Marker
Inscription. On this site the flag of our country was raised on September 24, 1956, signaling the beginning of classes for the Valley campus of Los Angeles State College, which became San Fernando Valley State College July 1, 1958, and California State University Northridge June 1, 1972. This section of the first flagpole was returned to its original position and rededicated on the twenty-fifth anniversary of CSUN by the founding faculty, staff and students who established and served this campus, 1956-1959.
