Center for Service Learning and Civic Engagement. Tennessee State University. TSU's Center for Service Learning and Civic Engagement is a program that exists to facilitate quality educational experiences through community based service learning. The Center connects campus and community resources to create diverse learning experiences and to serve community needs. Since 2008, students and staff from the Center have been involved in the Gateway to Heritage project. The project was implemented into Art, Engineering, Geography and History classes at TSU where students provided valuable input towards the design and construction of the project The Center was also responsible for securing a HUD grant, which paid for a portion of the cost of the Gateway to heritage project.
