Kindell Stephens, Sr.. . Mr. Stephens earned his Bachelor of Arts in Education from Fisk University, where he starred for the Bulldog basketball team. Upon graduation, he was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers, becoming the first Fisk basketball player drafted into the NBA. He later returned to Nashville and took the role of Sports Information Director at Tennessee State University, where he also served as the "Voice of the Tigers" on TSU radio broadcasts. It was Stephens who is credited with the coining the colorful nicknames of TSU greats such as Joe "747" Adams and "Jefferson Street" Joe Gilliam.
