1. Dr. John Hope Franklin Marker
Inscription. Dr. Franklin graduated magna cum laude from Fisk University in 1935. He began his teaching career at Fisk University as well. He went on to teach at several notable universities and become one of the most important historians of the 20th century. Dr. Franklin was an advisor to presidents and recipient of national and international awards including the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which he received in 1995.
