Tennessee State University
Tennessee State University was founded in 1912 as the Agricultural and Industrial Normal School by the State of Tennessee. In 1951 the school obtained university status from the Tennessee State Board of Education. TSU has grown into a nationally recognized academic institution with an extensive list of distinguished alumni. The school's adopted motto is "Think. Work. Serve." which acts as the university's guiding principle now and into the future.
