1. Smyth County Museum Marker
Inscription. Founded in 1961 by Clara Hill Carner, the museum started in an 1838 one-room schoolhouse located near MSHS Stadium. Home to countless artifacts of our rich heritage, the Smyth County Museum moved to the county's 1908 first public high school building located at 105 East Strother Street in the historic downtown district in 1999.

Regarding Smyth County Museum. The museum, now known as the Holston River Heritage Center, has since relocated to 123 East Main Street.
