1. Salt Lick Village U.S. Post Office Marker
Inscription. An important part of Salt Lick Village is its Post Office. In 1804 the first U.S. Post Office, in what is now Jackson, was opened here. Its name was "Salt Lick". It remained so until the settlement was renamed Jackson in 1817. The trailer, now the "Salt Lick Town Post Office, was given to the Society by member Jim Hazelrigg. It now serves as the Post Office of the Village as well as a Society records repository.
