1. Settlemyer Building Marker
Inscription. This 1903 building was nicknamed "hole in the wall" due to a recessed 3rd story balcony. Featured on the corner entrance is a marble ionic column. Past businesses include Gaffney Drug Co., Western Union Telegraph and Cherokee Savings Bank.

From National Register nomination:
Constructed in 1903, this three-story brick building was the home of the Cherokee Savings Bank for many years. The building features a corner entrance with a marble Ionic column. Pilasters divide the upper facade and at the roof line is a corbelled brick cornice. Windows on the third story have rounded arches; a recessed balcony is also located on the third floor.

Revival, Renaissance Revival, Art Deco, and Neoclassical styles. All of the buildings are of brick construction and vary from one to four stories in height. The downtown area, which continues to be a center of Gaffney commerce, retains much of its early 20th century character.
