Florida World War II Memorial
Dedicates this memorial marker in memory of:
the 498 servicemen of Hillsborough County who sacrificed their
lives defending freedom during WW II,
the thousands of patriots of Hillsborough County who were
wounded defending freedom during WW II,
the civilians of Hillsborough County who served as volunteers
for the Florida Defense Force and Home Guard protecting their
families, friends and fellow citizens during WW II,
the hundreds of men and women of Hillsborough County who
worked tirelessly building vessels at the Tampa Shipbuilding
and Engineering Company and McCloskey Shipyard, and
the hundreds of thousands of service members stationed at
Henderson, McDill, and Drew Army Airfields who supported
the fight to preserve freedom for the United States of
America and the world.
