3. Bunnell Auxiliary Naval Air Station
Officers and men assigned to Bunnell Auxiliary Naval Air Station during World War Il stand near and on one of their F6F Hellcat fighter airplanes. The station was built during 1943-44 at a cost of approximately $2 million and was located about halfway between Bunnell and Flagler Beach. In 1946 the field was turned over free of charge to Flagler County and now serves as the Flagler County Executive Airport.
