The Pringle Hardware Building
1863
Originally, this building was a three-story stone structure with a rounded roof having two front entrances: one on Second Street, the other on the levee. In 1901, the rounded roof was “squared off” giving the building a full third floor.

Henry Hudson, eldest son of Judge Benjamin Pringle, was born in Batavia, N.Y., Mar. 10th, 1832, graduating at Hobart College, Geneva, N.Y., in 1853, and removing to Hastings three years later, in 1856, engaging in the hardware trade under the firm name of Blodgett & Pringle. The East Second Street Commercial Historic District in Hastings, Minnesota, is a downtown district consisting of thirty-five commercial buildings built between 1860 and 1900. The downtown area retained its historic integrity even as other communities modernized their downtowns as a result of post-World War II urban renewal efforts. The district contains a number of two- and three-story buildings, each in a unique style.
