Inscription. One of the greatest developments in Monroeville in the early 1900s was the electric railroad which put the community in the line of traffic for passengers and freight. The line was known as the Fort Wayne, Van Wert and Lima Traction Company and was under the supervision of the Indiana Railroad System (IRS). The interurban ran from November 1, 1905 until June 30, 1936.
