Regarding Alexander Bagby House. Excerpt from the National Register nomination:
Alexander Bagby (1819-1889) and his wife Orra Walter Bagby (1829-1915) were married in 1848. They moved to Ashland from Louisville in 1855 and built a house on the corner of Lexington and Sixteenth (Broadway) the land was purchased on July 9, 1855 in the name of Orra Bagby. Four lots were purchased. Lots 1 and 2 facing Lexington were $495 each. Lots 7 and 8 facing Hilton (Lawrence) were priced at $495 and $360.
Alexander Bagby was a lawyer and is listed as a police judge in the 1860 census for Boyd County.
