Size 236
Joshua Diedrich
Plasticized Concrete
Gift of Robert and Laurie LaZebnik
Jackson native Robert (Bob) LaZebnik commissioned this enormous shoe to celebrate Miller's Shoe Parlor, a staple of downtown Jackson since 1913. Bob (b.1929) fondly recalls being fitted for his first pair of high-top leather shoes at Millers and honors that memory with Size 236. Here sculptor Joshua Diedrich recreates a woman's shoe found in the store.
Charles A. Miller opened his business on the second floor of 143 W. Michigan Avenue. Owned and operated by the Shotwell family since 1959, this downtown icon currently features American-made and custom footwear. One of the last shoe parlors in town, this family business moved to its current location at 103 W. Michigan Avenue in 1976.
