5,000 military dogs went to Vietnam; not a single one came back. Now, they're being honored. (Submitted on December 6, 2022, by Brandon D Cross of Flagler Beach, Florida.)

Please do not stand by my graveside and weep,
for I am not there, I have no time to sleep.

I am faithfully serving on the Last Patrol,
watching over our troops in their time of turmoil

I know my job, you know that I will do it well,
just a pat on my head, as I lead them through Hell.

I will miss you now, as I know you still miss me,
but my best job I will do, just the way you trained me.

We will always be partners. although we're separated right now,
you know I’ll serve with honor — — — I have the “know-how”.

I will be diligent, faithful and alert to the core,
until the time comes when we are together once more!
Kim Burton
