Excerpt: In the "Mentidero" authors and actors were hired, they greeted each other, let oneself be seen, while others went to see the famous. Lope was frequently cheered, loves fluttered, theatrical phrases spread throughout the theater, as did the truth. Thousands of authors, actors, theaters, comedies along with Our Lady of the Ninth, her miraculous patron saint, with her altarpiece on the corner of this street with that of Santa María….It was surely the best thing in Spain...(Submitted on December 10, 2022.)
