Landscape architect Jens Jensen thought about how landscapes would look over time. He commented to Edsel. It takes years to get the real beauty out of a landscape planted… Its greatest beauty is in mature age."
Here, Jensen planned a gradual transition-native trees of southeastern Michigan give way to those from the north. He designed "a spring-fed pool with an overflow at the far end where the water drops down the cascades into the nook of the lake.” The added backdrop of trees, shrubs, and wildflowers gives the sense of being in a woodland swimming hole garden.
