1. Rose Garden Marker
Inscription.
Landscape architect Jens Jensen tried to resist designing formal gardens, but Edsel told him Eleanor wanted a not-too-large, but definitely formal, garden. The result is a circular, wagon wheel like space featuring a lotus blossom fountain at its center.

Within the Rose Garden, Jensen created a simple theme. He placed lilacs at the four corners of the garden. Forget-me-nots and violets served as ground layer plants under the roses, and hollyhocks stood near the wrought-iron gate. Jensen selected rose varieties in a wide range of colors, but Eleanor insisted on the pastels ultimately planted.
