In this house on the 12th of August, 1866, was born the dramatist Jacinto Benavente, the first winner of the Nobel Prize for literature.

Excerpt: Jacinto Benavente y Martínez (12 August 1866 – 14 July 1954) was one of the foremost Spanish dramatists of the 20th century. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1922 "for the happy manner in which he has continued the illustrious traditions of the Spanish drama".
