Philadelphia's Sister Cities Program, administered by the International Visitors Council of Philadelphia, creates special relationships with cities round the world by building friendships with citizens and governments. Through this program, Philadelphia strengthens its economy and builds business alliances, promotes tolerance and democracy, and educates citizens about global issues. Each Sister City sends and receives delegations of leaders from government, business, arts and culture, education, and technology for an exchange of ideas and to promote peace through mutual respect, understanding and cooperation — one person, one community at a time. Philadelphia has eleven Sister Cities and Partnership Cities identified on the map below.

① Florence, Italy, 1964
② Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel, 1966
③ Toruń, Poland, 1976
④ Tianjin, People's Republic of China, 1980
⑤ Incheon, South Korea, 1983
⑥ Douala, Camaroon, 1986
⑦ Nizhny Novgorod, Russia, 1992
