Three-Way Piece Number 1: Points
1964
— Henry Moore (1898 - 1986) —
Photographed By Devry Becker Jones (CC0), December 17, 2022
This bronze sculpture by Henry Moore, one of the best-known sculptors of the 20th century, teases the imagination. He wanted to make "a new kind of sculpture, less dependent on gravity, which could be seen in at least three positions." Walk around the work and see what impressions it gives you. The entire form, weighing a ton, balances on its three slender "points."
The sculpture is owned by the Fairmount Park Art Association, which purchased it in 1967. Originally installed in nearby John F. Kennedy Plaza, the work was relocated to this site in 1990
Erected by Museum Without Walls. (Marker Number 2.)
