Inscription.
Thomas Jefferson wrote that of all the countries in the world, America was where "the noblest gardens may be made without expense…"

To commemorate the signers of the Declaration of Independence, the Daughters of the American Revolution have donated funds to plant the rose beds just ahead.

The National Park Service maintains the Rose Garden and adjacent ground.
