The Warrior
During the excavation for this memorial beneath this bronze tablet the remains of an unknown American serviceman were recovered and later identified as Sgt John Branic L Company 3rd Battalion 5th Marines. He was killed in action on this high ground then known as "Hill 73" on 19 August 1942. He now rests in Arlington National Cemetery.

His story, along with the thousands of Americans who gave their lives in the name of freedom, is commemorated by this memorial.
