Inscription.

To the memory of all who in the World War of 1939-1945 defended and guarded the British Solomon Islands Protectorate and rested not until the last enemy was overcome.

2 N.Z. Expeditionary Force in the Pacific
1939-1945
Erected in sacred memor of the men and women of New Zealand who served and those who died for their country and the defence of the South Pacific, British Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea, during World War II.

They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old:
Nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning we will remember them.

To the many thousands of our CCC buddies, America’s tree soldiers of the 1930’s who became a large part of our armed forces during the 1940’s together with their fellow Americans who perished in the conquest of these western Pacific islands and surrounding seas, we who survived salute you. We will remember forever.

We the men of the National Association of Civilian Conservation Corps Alumni of the United States of America dedicate this plaque.

We the survivors of the 6th Marine Division salute and will always remember our departed comrades and respected warriors of Japan

At this spot, on August seventh 1967, a wreath was laid by representatives of the United States Marine Corps in reverent memory of the sacrifice of the heroic men of all the nations, arms and services who took part in the Battle for Guadalcanal and the liberation of the Solomons a quarter of a century earlier.
