Inscription. In 1935, Jule Oakes moved his beloved wife Jewel and his family into this house. With love and hard work, they transformed it into a warm and inviting showplace. On any given Saturday, the Oakes' home, kitchen, and front porch hosted family and visitors: the door was never locked. The man that served his country in the Calvary in France during WWI also served his community as a 50 year Mason and even served Lawrenceville as Mayor in the years 1949 and 1950. He was known for a generous heart and infectious sense of humor. He often said, "My word is my bond,” which was proven true by his successful land and business ventures. All things considered, Jule Oakes' philanthropic spirit and dedication to his community are what lives on today as his main legacy. Building Built Circa 1893. Dedicated in 2018.
