Petrus Josephus Hubertus Cuypers (1827-1921)

Hij was een Nederlandse architect en zijn naam wordt vaak in ιιn adem genoemd met het Rijksmuseum (1876-1885) en het Centraal Station (1881-1889). Cuypers was echter in de eerste plaats een architect van kerken; hij ontwierp er meer dan 100, waarvan er 70 werden gebouwd. Zijn invloed beperkte zich niet alleen tot zijn eigen zoon, architect Joseph Cuypers, en tot zijn vele leerlingen. Ook architecten als H.P.Berlage en Michel de Klerk zijn in grote mate door hem beοnvloed. Rijksmuseum, 1885. Vaak zorgde hij bij gebouwen ook voor het gehele interieur. Hij maakte meubels, kledingstukken en zelfs bestek, passend bij het hele ontwerp.

Pierre Cuypers was a Dutch architect and his name is often mentioned in the same breath when speaking of the Rijksmuseum (1876-1885) and the Amsterdam Central Station (1881-1889). However, Cuypers was primarily an architect of churches; he designed more than 100, of which 70 were built. His influence was not limited to his own son, architect Joseph Cuypers, or his many pupils;
