Alexander Frederik de Savornin Lohman (1837-1924)

Hij was een protestants politicus en een van de belangrijkste voormannen van de Christelijk-Historische Unie. Een aristocratische maar ook temperamentvolle Groninger. Hij kon zich soms scherp uitlaten tegenover politieke tegenstanders. Hij stond echter wel open voor argumenten van de ander. Werd in 1879 Tweede Kamerlid voor de anti-revolutionairen en bleef dat tot 1921. Als vooraanstaand en invloedrijk staatsman was hij tot op hoge leeftijd ιιn van de belangrijkste adviseurs van koningin Wilhelmina.

De Savornin Lohman was a Protestant politician and one of the most important leaders of the Christian Historical Union. An aristocratic but also temperamental Groninger, he could sometimes speak sharply against political opponents. However, he was also open to arguments from the other side. In 1879 he became a Member of Parliament for the anti-revolutionaries and remained so until 1921. As a prominent and influential statesman, he was one of Queen Wilhelmina's most important advisers into old age.
