1. The Churches of Oakmont Marker

Inscription. The deep roots of religious tradition in Oakmont date back to 1857 with the establishment of the Oakmont Presbyterian Church. Throughout the 1900s, several more churches were established. As these congregations grew, some of these early church buildings were adopted by different religious denominations or converted for other purposes.

For more than 150 years the churches of Oakmont helped build a strong community through their schools, outreach programs, and social activities. These places of worship are an important part of Oakmont's history and heritage.

This marker is dedicated to all the churches of Oakmont by the congregation of St. Irenaeus Roman Catholic Church on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of their parish, March 2007.
