1. Brule Homestead Cabin Marker
Inscription. The log cabin was built in 1913 by John Fiina Koski for his family of 3 and located on M-189. It was donated to the museum in 1971 and was the museum’s first log building.

Stambaugh Cemetery, Iron River, Iron County, Michigan.
Early settlers cleared land in the pursuit of logging or farming. Some of the logs were used to build their homes and other buildings. The Koski cabin was originally built in December 1913 by John and Fiina Koski in the south Brule area on what is now highway 189. In ensuing years other people lived in the cabin. Among them were: Charles Maki, Jack Laiha, Nick Maki, Isaac Korpi, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Keliin and children.
