The Cooling Pond

1. The Cooling Pond Marker

Inscription. This "garden" area was originally the Cooling Pond for the operation of the Caspian Mine. The engines that ran the equipment in the mine were cooled with water. The water was pumped to this open pond and cooled and sent back to cool the equipment.

After closure of the mine, this area was a fountain, orchestra pit for concerts, and now a garden.
