Bart van Hove
Hij was een Nederlandse beeldhouwer en stamde uit een kunstenaars- familie. Zijn halfbroer Gerard en grootvader Bartholomeus Johannes waren allebel schilders. In 1885 werd hij leraar aan de kunstnijverheidsschool Quellinus in Amsterdam en van 1889 tot 1900 was hij daar directeur. In 1900 werd hij hoogleraar aan de Rijksacademie van Beeldende Kunsten tot aan zijn dood. Op verzoek van Pierre Cuypers werkte hij mee aan het decoratieve beeldhouwwerk voor het Rijksmuseum. Als zelfstandige maakte hij vooral veel portretbustes en standbeelden.
Bart van Hove was a Dutch sculptor and descended from a family of artists. His half-brother Gerard and grandfather Bartholomeus Johannes were both painters. In 1885 he became a teacher at the Quellinus arts and crafts school in Amsterdam, and from 1889 to 1900 he was director there. In 1900 he became a professor at the State Academy of Art until his death. At the request of Pierre Cuypers, he collaborated on the decorative sculpture for the Rijksmuseum. As a self-employed person, he mainly made many portrait busts and statues.
