Montgomery Memorial Chapel, San Francisco Theological Seminary
Presbytery: The Redwoods Synod of the Pacific

Built in 1897, San Francisco Theological Seminary's Montgomery Chapel was named in honor of Alexander Montgomery, the seminary's first benefactor. The chapel was designed in the Richardsonian Romanesque style by architect John Wright and built of stone quarried in Sonoma County. The interior features Tiffany-style stained glass windows depicting Old Testament stories. In the early 1990s, the seminary renovated the chapel to withstand earthquakes, work supported by the descendants of Alexander Montgomery. The chapel is noted for its near-perfect acoustics, and is used by seminary students as a testing ground for their future
