Jan Leliman
Hij was een Nederlands architect en voorzitter van de Maatschappij tot Bevordering der Bouwkunst. In zijn jonge jaren was hij leerling van architect en ingenieur Johan Frederik Metzelaar in Rotterdam. In Amsterdam studeerde hij aan de afdeling Bouwkunde van de Koninklijke Akademie van Beeldende Kunsten. Leliman mengde. zich actief in de achitectuurdiscussie van zijn tijd. Zijn bekendste ontwerpen zijn het Prinsengrachtziekenhuis (1856) en de sociλteit Arti et Amicitae aan het Rokin. Zijn stijl is overwegend eclectisch, hij combineerde meerdere historische stijlen.
Jan Leliman was a Dutch architect and chairman of the Society for the Promotion of Architecture. In his early years he was a student of architect and engineer Johan Frederik Metzelaar in Rotterdam. In Amsterdam he studied at the Department of Architecture at the Royal Academy of Art. Leliman actively participated in the architecture debates of his time. His most famous designs are the Prinsengracht Hospital (1856) and the Arti et Amicitae Society building on the Rokin in Amsterdam. His style is mainly eclectic, combining several historical styles.
