Inscription.
Jacob Otten Husley (1738-1796)

(English translation:)

Jacob Husley was a Dutch architect and stucco worker. At a young age he moved to Amsterdam to learn stucco under the guidance of his two uncles, the famous stucco decorators Hans Jacob and Hendrik Huslij. Although born as Hans Jacob Otten, he added 'Husley', as a variant of Huslij, to his name from ± 1760 to underline this family connection. His most famous design is Felix Meritis (1787-1789) for which a competition was held in 1786, which he won.
