Granida is een herdersspel geschreven door Pieter Cornelisz Hooft in 1605 en gaat over de liefde tussen de herder, Daifilo en de prinses Granida. Het behandelt de afweging tussen rijkdom en luxe en soberheid en rust.

Hooft schreef dit spel ter ere van zijn jeugdliefde Ida Quakels. Granida betekent 'Grote Ida' en Daifilo is een anagram en wil zoveel zeggen als: 'houdt van Ida'.

(English translation:)

Granida is a pastoral play written by Pieter Cornelisz Hooft in 1605 and is about the love between the shepherd, Daifilo, and the princess Granida. It deals with the trade-off between wealth and luxury and austerity and tranquility.

Hooft wrote this play in honor of his childhood sweetheart Ida Quakels. Granida means 'Great Ida' and Daifilo is an anagram and means 'loves Ida'.
