died with Honor.

Presented on 5 October, 1993 by members of the
344th Bomb Group Association. Assigned “Drane
Field”, Lakeland, FL. December 1942 – January 1944.

The 344th Bomb Group led the
Ninth Air Force into action
on D-Day, striking gun
emplacements on Cherbourg
Peninsula, just 21 minutes
ahead of landing craft.

For action 24-26 July 1944
 
Erected 1993 by Members of the 344th Combat Group Association.
