1. Nathaniel Sweets Marker
Inscription. Nathaniel Allen Sweets, a graduate of Lincoln University, was loyal to his alma mater and was an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. During the economic hardship of 1928, he joined N.B. Young and helped launch the St. Louis American, an African American newspaper that survives and thrives today. In 1949, when blacks in St. Louis could not get a cab, he launched the St. Louis American Cab Company. Nathaniel was a creative visionary, a proud father and a good friend to St. Louis.
