Inscription. In the early 1770s, parties of long hunters led by James Smith and Isaac Bledsoe extensively explored Middle Tennessee. Long hunter Kasper Mansker visited the Cumberland settlements in 1770, and in 1780, he built the fort named for him in present-day Goodlettsville.
