Union Bank / Parker Building
1901 / 1967
Union Bank - 1901
The Union Bank of Clinton was chartered in 1894. The bank building, constructed on this site in 1901, survived both the 1905 and 1908 Market Street fires, even acting as a block that prevented the fire from burning buildings on the east side of the street. Union Bank moved to a new building on Main Street in 1951.
Parker Building - 1956
Businessman L.B. Parker renovated the building in 1956 for his furniture and jewelry store by replacing the façade and adding a new second floor. Salvaged brick, lentils, and other architectural elements from the original bank façade are visible at the rear and sides of the building. Mr. Parker sold the business in 1971.
