This mural is dedicated to the people of a place originally called Sutton Town, and then Quincy and finally Dunkirk, IN. In giving this historical depiction to our community, it is the many donors' desire to honor our history and celebrate our future. First pictured is Main Street in the late 1800s along with the A&W root beer mug which was first made by the Indiana Glass Company. Dunkirk High School's mascot, the Speedcat, is portrayed on the train. The train represents the railroad's importance to the early growth of our city.

The scene of Indiana Glass Company and its founding President Frank W. Merry, a current view of our remaining glass manufacturer Ardagh Glass, the Dunkirk High School Building which was in use from 1919 until 1975, and the Cinderella Queen of Glass Crown are symbolized front and center. Charlie DeCamp, a well known glass blower, is portrayed showing his craft along with the furnace that heated the glass. An array of glassware is presented, including the Ball Jar and a bottle with the logo of the labor union which represents the employees at Ardagh Glass.

The plume of fire, coming from the abundant crown of gas wells that were discovered, serves as remembrance of the gas boom era and the most important element to the success of the glass industry in Dunkirk. In celebration
