1. Papini House Marker
Inscription. In 1850 Luther Davis built a bakery here. It was a two-story wood-frame building with ornate trim and a large glass door. Inside were bakery ovens and glass display cases. The bakery was later abandoned and partially dismantled in 1882. Joseph Papini, husband of Luther Davis’ granddaughter, Dorcus Hooper, built this house in about 1890 using some of the lumber from the old bakery building. Their family lived here until 1897 when it became a rental. The house today is set up to reflect how it would have looked during the early 1900’s.
