Inscription. This wooden building, built by Pearley Monroe around 1928, is representative of the many blacksmith shops in Coloma during and after the gold rush period. It provided shade for the forge and protection from the weather. An essential member of the community, the blacksmith repaired and manufactured almost everything made from wrought iron. This included small hardware, wagon parts, as well as tools for both miners and farmers.
