1. Sugar Belt Railroad Marker

Inscription.
Along this path ran the Sugar Belt Railroad which connected Kissimmee to St. Cloud to Narcoossee. Built in 1888, it was operated by Henry Plant's South Florida RR. Vegetables and produce from the farms and groves of the Shaker Colony, Narcoossee, and Runnymeade as well as the sugar from Hamilton Disston's sugar mill in St. Cloud were shipped along this railroad. It was abandoned in 1942 but the raised track bed can still be seen under the bike path.
