Inscription. James Thomas "Cool Papa" Bell was born in Starkville, Mississippi. He was one of the biggest stars of Negro League baseball. "Cool Papa" stole 175 bases in the 200 games during the 1933 season. Bell was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974, where his St. Louis Stars uniform and sunglasses remain on permanent display.
